To contribute in decreasing the preventable morbidity and mortality of the women and children in the remote areas of the country through training of qualified professional staff (midwives) for primary health care provision.

   To reduce shortage of female staff especially midwives in the remote clinics of these 7 provinces.

To increase access of women and children to the quality primary health care in the coverage area of the health clinics in 7 provinces.

To improve the identification, diagnose and referral system especially in the emergency and complicated obstetric care to the high-level Health clinics.

To select, enroll and train 24 eligible students in 2 years CME program.

Event-Based Surveillance
Providing Logistical And Operational Support For The Training On Event-Based Surveillance In Five Provinces (Nangarhar, Bamyan, Kandahar, Herat, And Badakhshan)

The overall objective of this project is to strengthen National Diseases Surveillance and Response system through conducting Event-based surveillance training for CHWs and Key informants in the 5 provinces of the country.

 To provide required facilitation for coordinating the EBS trainings conducted but the Surveillance department/staff at the 5 provinces.

To Provide operational & logistic support including payment of per diem and transportation, setting up the training venue and stationery & refreshments for conducting the training to 11,000 CHWs and Key informants (KIs) on the Event-Based Surveillance in five provinces (Nangarhar, Bamyan, Kandahar, Hirat, and Badakhshan) of Afghanistan.

To strengthen the capacity of the CBHC network including the CHWs’ and the Key informants’ for expanding the sources of information in regard to the early detecting and reporting the risk signals at the community level in 5 provinces of Afghanistan.

Main activities of the project are as following:
• Recruitment of the Technical and Administrative staff including CME instructors according to the proposal.
• Selection of 24 eligible students in 7 pre-identified provinces through a competitive procedure according to the CEM program student’s selection criteria.
• Establishment and quipping CME school according to the CME program policies.
• Establishment of skill laboratory and library for students.
• Provision of an enabling educational environment and safe dormitory for the students in Kabul city.
• Providing 2 years consisting 4 semesters theoretical and practical educational program for 24 students according to the CME program guidelines and standards.
• Registration of this program with the Afghanistan Midwifery and Nursing Education Board for evaluation and accreditation purpose.
• Handover of one copy of all documents of the students of this batch to the Ghazanfar Institute of Health science.

Cataract Project
Prevention of Blindness Project in Afghanistan

To contribute in reduction of preventable blindness, especially for vulnerable group of people living in deep rural and isolated areas of Afghanistan

   To reduce shortage of female staff especially midwives in the remote clinics of these 7 provinces.

 To increase access of women and children to the quality primary health care in the coverage area of the health clinics in 7 provinces.

To improve the identification, diagnose and referral system especially in the emergency and complicated obstetric care to the high-level Health clinics.

Mobile Health & Nutrition Team project
Provision of PHCs to the Nomads’ population through supporting one Nomad MHT in Wardak province of Afghanistan

To contribute in increasing access of the marginalized nomad population to the integrated PHC and nutrition services. 

  • To provide integrated primary health care including RMNCH, EPI and mental health to the nomad population.
  • To vaccinate eligible children and women and prevent the occurrence of vaccine-preventable disease outbreak in the nomad population.
