Provision of Emergency Nutrition services for <5 years children and pregnant & lactating women of nomad population

Coverage

  • 26 nomad health clinics in 15 provinces including Laghman, Khost, Paktia, Paktika, Helmand, Takhar, Wardak, Parwan, Kabul, Logar, Baghlan, Kapisa, Ghazni, Faryab and Nangrahar.
  • The project achieved its’ 3 years targets in first 2 years.

Project Result & Benefits of Project

  • Screened 131,815 <5 children for examining their nutrition status and out of them:
  • Detected and treated 7,998 <5 years children suffering Sever acute malnutrition (SAM) and recovered following the treatment.
  • Detected and treated 7,028 <5 years children suffering moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) and recovered following treatment.
  • Screened 56,327 pregnant and lactating (PLWs) women for examining nutrition status and out of them:
  • Detected and treated 5,635 PLWs suffering acute malnutrition and recovered following treatment.
  • For treatment of the above 3 categories of malnourished patients received distributed:
  • 7 metric tons RUTF to SAM children.
  • 57 metric tons RUSF to MAM children, and,
  • 96 metric tons Super cereal to malnourished PLWs.
  • 107 health staff trained on IMAM 6 days training.
  • 150 religious leaders and 208 health clinics shura members received 1 day training on Nutrition.
  • 2713 mothers and CBA women got half day MUAC orientation.
